Barney suffer first league defeat
Barney and Fulmodeston’s unbeaten start to the league season came to an abrupt halt at the halfway stage after being outclassed by Terrington St Clement.
Having won the toss, Terrington elected to bat and got off to a slow start, with some sketchy batting from Raffique and Yousaf.
Numerous edges and mistimed shots evaded the fielders before the impressive C. Lovegrove (3-25) dismissed the first three batsmen to leave the visitors at 29-3.
Naveed (30) and A. Moore (65) batted well to put Terrington in command, before L. Riseborough (5-43) and A. Riseborough (1-8) gained Barney some valuable points.
Set a total of 168, Barney’s chase got off to a shambolic start as A. Spillett (0), I. Seed (2) and J. White (5) fell cheaply.
A. Riseborough gave Barney some hope with a resolute 48, but wickets continued to fall at an alarming rate.
The pick of the Terrington bowlers was Raffique, with 4-32, and Buttress with 3-25.
Fittingly, Raffique took the last wicket to seal a good win for Terrington
The game was played in a fantastic spirit and the two teams enjoyed a drink after the match at the Crawfish.
Ray Lake Electrical MoM shared between Aaron Riseborough, Liam Riseborough and Chris Lovegrove.
